We are very much across the concept of change. In fact, as we move through the year, you will see that we are all about change and transformation. We even have a brand new concept to introduce … but more about that later in the year.
Right now, though, we need to make a clear distinction between change management and change leadership.
We are of the very firm belief that you manage things and you lead people.
Manage has this underlying feeling of control or not letting things get out of hand. Certain aspects of change require management – timelines, budgets, scope, etc – but the actual change itself must be led. The most important part of successful change is not the beautifully crafted, heavily theory-based change plan. Neither is it the comms plan. Or the BIA or TNA.
No, the most important part of change is the people. Being led.
And everything we talk about in these posts will be based on that premise.
We don’t think Change Management is the most effective way to delivery successful program outcomes. We’ll take Change Leadership every time.
