Are you over-complexifying change?

==========

Change can be pretty simple, you know.

In some cases, change happens without any intervention and without any great impact on those affected.

On the other hand, change can be complex – but does it have to be?

We think that change leadership (deliberate choice of word – we don’t like Change Management as a concept) only really involves four phases:

  • Where are we now?
  • Where to do we need to get to?
  • How do we get there?
  • How do we embed it?

Stated another way:

  • Define it
  • Plan it
  • Do it
  • Make it stick

Sure, there is more to it than that but rather than overlaying a methodology-heavy set of documents and procedures, we defer to our Simple Change Plan Template (click button below to download the template). In our Simple Change Plan document, we don’t document unnecessary theory or diagrams that impress but add no value.

No our plan is based on a set of questions that, if answered clearly and transparently, will provide the direction needed to lead the change.

Please don’t over-complexify change – you’ll give us all a bad name.
